It’s idea has been to promote the tourism among Bulgarians and foreigners who want to see the what-so-called most beautiful, symbolic, and important historic, aarchaeological cultural, and natural landmarks.Neofit Rilski Museum house in Bansko is one of them!
Neofit Rilski (his real name is Nichola Benin) is a monk, teacher and an artist. He was said to be one of the patriarchs of the Bulgarian education. He was born in 1793 in Bansko city where he was teaching iconography in the Bansko School of Art Thomas Vishanov-Molera.
Neofit became a monk and worked in the Rila Monastery. Neofit Rilski perhaps is most famous with his book published in 1835 - the first Bulgarian grammar. He died in 1811.
His birth-house in Bansko city has been transformed into the Neofit Rilski Museum House museum which is also known as the Beninata house. The house is a typical example of the Bansko city architecture from the late XVIII - early XIX century and was declared an architectural and historical monument which is also included in the top 100 tourist sites of Bulgaria.
