Less than an hour drive (40 km) north-west from Sofia, the Dragoman marsh is the biggest natural karst wetland in Bulgaria, lies at the bottom of Bezottochna valley. Favorite place for nature lovers, has impressive biodiversity and more than 215 bird species at present time, most of them are protected. Serving as the perfect background to the marsh, Chepan Mountain which is part of the Western Balkan Mountains is like an outdoor botanical garden.
How to get there: From Sofia take the exit toward the town of Dragoman/Road 8. When you enter the town of Dragoman turn at the road toward the town of Godech. Continue onto Road 813 for about 1 km and then turn right onto Road 8103 for about 2 km. until you reach the Dragoman mash.
